ted_springer
Hi everyone, I have been recently doing some table top advertising photography. I would like to work on my composition. Does anyone know of some books that could teach me some basic design principles? Thanks in advance for your collective wisdom!
randall ellis
There are a blue million design books out there, but this one is one that seems to be one of the better books. "Design Elements: A Graphic Style Manual" (ISBN:978-1592532612). Try to find non-photography books for this sort of thing. Photography books tend to be too basic, cover the same tired ground in not enough detail, and generally far too shallow in content to really be helpful to most people. Look for books for artists in general, graphic designers, or other professions of that nature for the best books on design principles. All of these concepts can be applied to photography, so don't worry about the intended audience as much as the content.

- Randy
