PeterKrenek
I have upgraded to Internet Explorer 8. Since then, it often happens that I am prompted to login although I had chosen to "remember me" on the computer. It happens regardless of whether I run the photo.net in Compatibility mode or not. Cookies are enabled. Anyone else experiencing this ?

bob_sunley
The fix is Firefox. :)
dave_s
Same here. They shouldn't have made it available with all the bugs. I just dumped it and reinstalled IE7.
jsc
It appears IE8 has several "issues", one being with cookies. Even if you have cookies enabled, it doesn't want to accept them anyway. Please see this link for a workaround: http://tech.chitgoks.com/2008/09/01/internet-explorer-8-betas-cookies/
bob_sunley
Historically, Microsoft has almost always had major problems with every major software/service pack release, it is never a good idea to be an early implementer of upgrades, fixes and patches. Having Window's auto-update turned on is not what you want. We always have and still delay patches and upgrades at least 3-6 months to make sure the bugs are worked out by someone else, unless we need the fix to correct a current problem. Ray House
I've had IE8 for about a month now and am not experiencing login problems. One thing I did was to click the compatability icon (new for IE8) so all programs and sites would run as if using IE7. This seemed to be the magic trick! PeterKrenek
Jin, I tried the workaround, it did not help. You may perhaps see from the number of my logins that it happens often. Sometimes I get an error message from PN when logging in (if I get it again I shall post its text). After that I can access my workspace.
jsc
Please do provide me with any error messages you might get. It will help me track down the problem. Are you using any sort of web proxy or gateway?
PeterKrenek
I shall remember to copy the message if it occurs again. I use no proxies or gateways.
PeterKrenek
I gave up. I installed Firefox. I had to log in almost after every click on the Photo.net...
joshroot
You are better off with Firefox anyway. IE = blech
Please note, these opinions are Josh Root's. Photo.net itself doesn't have any opinion about IE and it's annoying problems. Except that most of us who run the place don't use it unless we have to.
