steve_austin4
Hi I can not figure out how to take a clean shot [daylight and night] of a photo from a book that has been printed on glossy paper. I've tried different angles but still am not getting a clean shot. Anyone? Thank you very much.
James G. Dainis
What you are trying to do is known as copyright infringement. Only the holder of copyright has the right to copy it or give others the right to do so. A photo does not need to have the copyright notice to announce copyright. Is this photo public domain? btmuir
James, maybe it is for a class. I did this when I was in school. It falls under "fair use". I agree with you and am vehemently against any type of thievery but we don't have all the facts yet. Steve, what are you copying the shot for? bob_sunley
Ignoring James' rant about copyright infringement which may or may not be applicable, depending on all sorts of variables. You need the light source to be off to the side, hitting the page at a 45 degree angle to the axis of the camera. On camera flash will just ruin the photo. You might need a polarizing filter as well. Do a google search on copy stand, and you will find tons of info on what you want to do. This link will show up in the search http://www.marietta.edu/~mcshaffd/macro/copy.html
frank uhlig
Put the page on a scanner, save as jpeg.
mark_sirota1
What James is saying is true, depending on the use you intend for the photograph. But if you want to learn how to do this, I suggest trying to copy pages from <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Light-Science-Introduction-Photographic-Lighting/dp/0240808193/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1222189184&sr=8-1">"Light -- Science & Magic" by Hunter, Biver, and Fuqua</a>. James G. Dainis
Place the page flat on the floor in a darkened room, at night with the lights out would be ideal. Place two lamps on either side and cover them so no light falls on you, the camera or the ceiling. If the glossy paper can't see anything to reflect, you get no reflections. James G.
