Problems saving images from Digital Photo Professional

Hello,

 

I just installed the Digital Photo Professional that came bundled with the EOS xSi. I make some changes to an

image (saturation, hue etc) and save it. If I open the photo using either Picasa or 'Windows Picture viewer', I

see that none of the changes I made in DPP have taken effect. I've verified that I'm opening from the same place

where I saved using DPP.

 

Any ideas? Is it just a picture editor thing?

When you go to save it, you have to click "convert and save as", whether it be a JPEG or raw file.

DPP performs "non-destructive" editing, in which the changes are not stored in the image file itself. This is intentional so that a photographer never looses his/her digital original, and can recreate it later. As Scott says, you must perform "Convert and Save As" to save the changes into a file that Picassa can edit.
