donald_weston1
Lots of discussion going on, on what and how, and such, but no word from anyone as to when? Don't care if you want it or something else, and the pros and cons of what Sony or Nikon alternatives offer, just curious about the timing? PuppyDigs
According to Canon's press release, mid-Nov in the USA. May be difference in other countries. Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. Other times I can barely see. - Robert Hunter

bobatkins
If you read the Canon press Release which you can find here http://www.photo.net/equipment/canon/5D-mkII/preview/ you'll see this: "...The Canon EOS 5D Mark II Digital SLR camera is compatible with Canon EF lenses and is scheduled for delivery by the end of November..." I don't know where these late October or early November guestimates are comming from, except perhaps dealers who are trying to lure in customers with unreasonable promises of early delivery. I'm sure some of the more scumy deals will be advertsing it as being in stock soon. Based on Canon's own statement it looks unlikely you'll get one before December, even if you put your name on the list today.
david_littleboy__tokyo__ja
Canon is running hands-on pre-release seminars in Japan. The last one is Nov. 24. So I don't think it'll hit the stores until after then.
dkord
The question is not when, but whether it will be available. Hearing pre-orders are getting filled.
david_littleboy__tokyo__ja
FWIW, what happened with the 5D is that if one didn't want to play in the first adopters' fast lane, by the time the reports from the first adopters had settled down there were no cameras on the shelves, I was told it would be a multiple week wait, but the camera appeared fairly soon.
