baris_john
I have acquired an AE FN Canon motordrive for the New F1. Works fine except forthe frame counter which shows "S" constantly, no matter if film is loaded or not. May be user error. What am I missing? awahlster
have you reset it? have you read the manual? it counts down not up. And should be set to the length of the film loaded to make sure the motor does not rip the film if it suddenly stops short.
bsharpe411
Baris...scroll down a few posts and read what I had posted a few days ago for a similar problem with the winder. Here's a link for how to use the motor drive: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/canonf1n/motordrives/motordrivefn/index.htm Also take note of what I said in the last paragraph of my post :)
baris_john
Did wat the manual says. Still, counter on "S". Pushing "Reset" does nothing.
gordon_yee
Baris, have you read the ENTIRE section of the manual on "Setting the Frame Counter"? The motor drive's frame counter works in the reverse direction from the one in the camera. You need to manually set it for the number of unexposed frames remaining on the roll of film. For example, after you load a 24 exposure roll of film, you need to set the motor drive's counter to 24 before you begin shooting. The counter will count down as you shoot. When it reaches zero, it will not allow any more exposures to prevent the film from being torn or damaged. The first step in setting the motor drive's counter is to push the reset button which resets the counter to "S". The SECOND STEP is to to push in and turn the counter setting wheel (marked "SET" with an arrow pointing to the left) to the number of unexposed frames on the roll of film. Iᄡll see what a repairman says.
