awesome pictures People.

Jay, I love the rainbow in the fountain.

even with my new 18-250MM lens I found no time to shoot this weekend. instead I mowed the lawn and we opened the pool. I enjoyed it with the Wife and Kids.

I did take a few shots with the Kodak P&S I have. I got a great shot of the wife backing into the pool off the ladder but I think she would be pissed if I posted it....LOL

she got one of me so I will post that instead
00PlB7-47869684.jpg.c7dd038bd6d081097967d161be60dc29.jpg

Another week of nice work all around.

Steve, like the lightning shot. A silver lining to lousy weather.

Mis, wondering about that sort of dark halo around in your b/w silhouette shot, particularly around the workman on the right--is that a post-processing artifact? I've sometimes seen similar effects from LR's 'clarify' slider.

Alisa, I think I'd like to see the 'maters with more contrast--not sure which of the two is a better starting point.

O Shiva, your first photo is my favorite this week. Drawing the eye to a natural sky with modern architecture like that is amazing. Javier, the train shot is great, I like the way one engine is approaching and the other is leaving. Here are a few from me, both were taken from a walking trail that begins about 500 meters from my house.
00PlMH-47929584.jpg.4d6d9e86036e8e93da8e46073a4e9781.jpg

Hi Lisa! Nice 'Maters, I vote for the first as well. Although maybe the second with more contrast and then lighter as you're able, as Andrew suggested? We've picked a few strawberries, but too rainy out to shoot them. Unless I buy some weather-sealed equipment... and a lightning proof hat. Maybe not just yet.

Mis: Artsy fartsy becomes you.. I like that b&w shot, with all the trimmings :-)
Lisa: Those are good 'maters.. I think a bit of pp will make them pop out a bit more.. look forward to when they actually get nice and red :-)
Duane: I have so many good photos with that lens.. the chipmunk is cute.. but the duckies are really cute with the ripples in the water.
Dave: Is that a self portrait? Very well done.. the red becomes you .. lol
Nick: Pretty Iris.. it'll be gorgeous when it opens.
Bob: Not sure Ray Charles was into fishing.. but if that's who you say it is .. I believe you!
Yes and no. There was some shadow on the glass, cast by the workers, and with the high contrast it becomes more apparent. I actually played around with it trying to create a marked halo effect (using the 'clarity" slider in ACR, like you pointed out), but in the end I left it as it is so as not to upset the rest of the frame.

Haig, I'm too artsy fartsy for my own good.

Dave, I would never call my prospective foster father old ;-)

Last week was a busy one. I received no less than a ME super, 31mm Limited and a Vivitar 70-150mm f3.8. In addition to having final exams. Not easy to study when a brand new 31mm stands before you in all its glory :-)

Mis: You and me both on B&W high contrast photos. Love it.

O Shiva: Great as always. You must be king of DOF. Good luck tonight against the World Champions. I root for Orange.

Javier: Polarizers do add saturation don't they :-) Then again, who gets enough of blue blue skies (Unless you live in California, of course)

Duane: Your ducks rival Javier ducks. Cute as candy.

Alisa: Nice maters. You could fry'em now or wait till they're red and juicy.

Dave: That thing has to affect the mileage :-) Fun shot and well observed.

As for me I only brought my camera outside once. To a BBQ and wine thingy celebrating that exams are over. The first one is taken with the new 31mm. A truly wonderful optics and I'm so happy that I got it.
00PlZ3-47983584.thumb.jpg.7feb534129d43c218c8ca1b7bec15733.jpg
