jay a. frew
Hello: No big surprise - My Cokin P holder (which I used on my 17-40 for Grad ND) vignettes quite badly on my new EF-S 10-22. Do any of you know if the Cokin Z-Pro will vignette on that lens? I will use Singh-Ray 4x6 ND Grads with this holder (if it doesn't vignette). Cheers! bryan_lardizabal
My Nikon 12-24mm had that problem on a P series holder, but I was able to modify it by cutting the furthest slot tabs off, and made it a dedicated holder. The Z & even X series are substantially wider but Cokin recommends 15mm+ focal lengths - see link<p> http://www.cokin.fr/ico15/ico15-haut.html?=
dan_hall4
Not sure if it is of interest to you, but you can hand hold a "P" size on the 10-22 with no vignetting. I do. The holder was useless. Made me wish I had listened to others and got the larger Singh Ray filters. Money was tight. But handholding, they work great on the 10-22. jay a. frew
Thanks Guys: I had looked at the "P" series wide angle holder on the Cokin web site (cokin.com). It will work for lenses as wide as 20mm (that's 35mm equiv). It looks like a "single-slot" P holder. So I don't think cutting the extra slot-off my P holder would do much good on the 10-22. The Z-Pro is modular. The filter slots may be removed and reconfigured. It is also reversible: it can be turned around so that the filter fits into the adapter-ring slot (and the adapter ring then fits into a filter slot). This should let you go really wide without vignetting. I was just wondering if anyone had a Z-Pro and could tell me how well it works before I buy one. Unlike the P series, the Z-Pro series is expensive. Cheers! Jay
lester_wareham
Jay I have heard folks say it is fine on a 10-22mm although I have not tried it myself.
