kevinbriggs
I use both the Canon 5D and the Canon 1Ds Mark III (just acquired quite recently). I'd like to get some input on users of DXO Optics as well as Phase 1's Capture One. I've just recently downloaded the trial versions of both and will be playing around with him quite a bit, but I'd like some feedback on these pieces of RAW editing software. Is one preferable to the other? If so, why? If users have their preferences -- one piece of software versus the other -- I'd definitely like to hear about them. Thanks in advance for all comments! images_in_light_north_west
I tried both plus others and ended up with Lightroom, LR blows those others away by a long shot, I still use DPP for some shots, but the majority is now with LR.
john_burkus
I have used both. The current version of DXO does not support my Sony A700 so I no longer use it. I find that Capture One has always done a great job and I keep coming back to it even though I have, or have tried virtually all Windows compatible RAW processors on the market. kevinbriggs
Thank you very much Ross and John for your input. I do have some experience with Lightroom, by the way. I'm glad that you have had positive experiences with this product, Ross. I must say that I wasn't really all that impressed when I tried it out (free demo for 30 days) a short while ago. But maybe I need to rethink my opinion. Thanks again.
tony_clark
I do not have experience with DXO but tried CaptureOne and LR. I mainly shoot tethered with 1DsII and was sick of DPP. I found C1 to be unintuitive and the review between C1 and LR on Death to Film convinced me to buy LR. Now, if Canon would update Utility to work with my camera and OS10.5.2 I would be happy. kevinbriggs
Hello Tony, Thanks very much for your input! I guess I will have to return to Lightroom to experiment with it a little more in the near future.
