abe_hollander
Spring has sprung, despite mis not seeing that big bright orb in the sky when he was in town. Spent 10 minutes outside before dinner tonight, and found these.

abe_hollander
I like this one because it's so busy, and the breeze tossed it, so the focal point is on the edge of a petal. All using the macro switch ("focus limiter" schmimiter... it's still fun to pretend!) on my Sigma 70-300 APO, with tripod.

hagar
Pansies are always making faces! They are beautiful Abe. Matthew I love the deep down look into the tulips..They are such a pretty red. I can offer you the 'twins' for some color.. and the cactus flowers that are starting to bloom..

garry_young1
Ok. I have to join in here. I have some flower action going on. All of these shots were taken with my home adjusted macro lens, and that means that the pictures represent 11 millimeters across.
First is a butterfly drinking. Unfortunately the butterfly is slightly in front of my focal point:

 Butterfly Drinking

Now a ladybird hiding between tiny blossoms:

 Ladybird Hiding

And thirdly, a view deep down into a beautiful tiny little blossom:

 Tiny but Deep

garry_young1
Here are 2 more. I am stepping away from the macro aspect here. The first is a shot of a flower near a sprinkler. I like the drop about to drip:

 Drop 'n Bud

The next is of the sprinkler in question, with flowers in the background:

 Sprinkler

garry_young1
By the way Mis, I totally second your complaint about macro flowers in the wind! I have a DOF of 0.3 mm or so on my lens, with a working distance of about one inch, so the slightest movement by me or the subject is extremely counter productive! miserere_mei
Haig, that flower is from my first attempt at using my then-new macro set-up (Vivitar 2x macro TC + FA 50mm f/1.4) and was taken in the parking lot of my hotel on my way back from work. I took ~20 pics and just lost patience :-) I need more practice. Garry, that broken lens has turned out to be a blessing in disguise, huh? The butterfly drinking has its focus on the tongue, so it's all good I think.
andrewg_ny
Mis, like that high-key cherry blossom.
miserere_mei
Andrew, I think it's the only usable shot out of the ~20 I took :-) Garry, now that I've seen your pics again (from work, on a better monitor), I have to say I love Tiny but Deep...but I do wish the centre of the flower had been further to the left, past the middle of the frame. Am I being too picky!? LOL! I love everything else about it; those veins in the top-right corner are simply wonderful. A 12x18 print would be gorgeous; are you selling? ;-)

hagar
A friend of mine dubbed this one Cruella De Vil.. I must say I agree.. it is a paper daisy found in the botanic gardens at Mt Annan near Sydney.
Mis, If you don't have your tripod with you, the wind always blows as you are depressing the button :-) Using the macro setting can be tough. This last shot was taken with the 50-200 Pentax lens. I have some great photos with it.
