tsuacctnt
Today I somehow managed to drop my Nikon D200 about three feet onto a hardwood floor. As far as I can tell the camera still works fine, but the lens just sort of broke off at the mount. It's a Tamron SP 24-135 1:3.5-5.6. I'm attaching a picture of the damage. I'd appreciate any input on whether this is something that can be repaird or if I should just start saving up my pennies for a replacement. Thanks! michael_darnton1
If it was me, I'd be figuring out what exactly broke, whether a single simple part replacement would do the job, or if it was simply a case for a slightly bigger set of screws in old, ripped out holes, in which case I'd start trolling through my drawers for the right ones. Michael R Freeman
You have broken more than just the mount. The fragile ribbon cable to the lens CPU has also been severed. Gonna take more than replacing a few screws and a new mount to fix this one. You could take it somewhere for a repair estimate, but I would start saving my pennies for a replacement. john_elder1
Damn! I hate when that happens!
fullmetalphotograper
For a repair like that you are looking at $100 plus would be my guess. Here are some places for repair: http://www.midwestcamera.com/ (I have used tese guys with good results) http://www.keh.com/OnLineStore/repair.aspx http://www.tamron.com/about/services.asp
tsuacctnt
Thanks for the input everyone. I guess I'll mail it into Tamron and see what kind of an estimate they give me. My girlfriend always tells me that I'm too careless with my cameras; it hurts, but I'll have to admin she's right.
