joshroot
***UPDATE: READ EDIT BELOW***
Here is the April 2008: Global Moment project page.
Here is how to submit an image to the project (and indeed, to all the future monthly projects).

Upload the image to your gallery.
Go to that image's page.
Click on the "options" tab at the lower right corner of the image.
Click on "submit to current monthly project".

ONLY UPLOAD ONE IMAGE! There is supposed to be a block that keeps people from uploading more than one image to the project, but I need to double check that it is working.
Some people randomly figured this out already. Or perhaps they were just trying out a new feature for no reason and have messed up. Because I cannot be sure which is which, I will be deleting all the images currently up there. So if your image is above Edward Fron's image of a flower, it will be removed tomorrow morning. If it was submitted correctly, I apologize and ask you to upload it again.
***3:00am EDIT***
People do not seem to be paying attention to what that "submit to current monthly project" button is for. I'm seeing images with exposure dates from March or earlier being put in there. So I am going to tell people to hold off submitting images until we get a "confirm" page in there. You are welcome to submit images, but you run the risk of having to upload it again. I am going to delete all of the existing ones after we get the "confirm" page running tomorrow morning (and by that I mean normal business morning time, not the 3am PST that it currently is now).
Sorry folks, we'll work the bugs out.
***11:50am EDIT***
Everything is now working now. Please submit images.
david brown
Hi Josh welcome back, hope you drank alot and had fun. I have uploaded to the page and the time is not correct, it was my daughters camera and the time is out. If you do delete it never mind its a nice easy process to do it again. mike_stemberg
I will have to upload the image again ...which was prepared for the 'No Words' (511 px widest side/around 100K ?) stage. Do these standards still apply? And if we upload these 'project' images, is there anyway we can do it directly to some specific folder without it appearing or affecting the main default (show 3) images that appear under our main portfolio?

Questions, questions.....oh, and welcome back Josh. joshroot
Mike, Just prepare the image however you would normally prepare for your gallery images. For me, this is 680 pix on the longest side. At the moment, there is no way to hide the image from the three "most recent" thumbnails. At some point I'd like to give users the option to have three specific, three random, or three most recent. But we're not there yet.

geoff_foale
I put an image on the No Words section thinking I was doing the correct thing, but it's all getting too complicated for me now. So I'm going to pass on sending it in again. Perhaps another time.
joshroot
Geoff, I am sorry you feel that way. But I don't see how this is complicated at all. You just upload the image to your gallery and then make two other mouse clicks.

joshroot
William,
Yes. The project was discussed in this thread, this thread, and sent out to everyone in the March photo.net newsletter (everyone who cares to receive it anyway). m_barbu1
For now, yes. When there is another monthly project, it will be for that one.
LindaM
how does one get to the monthly challenge except through this thread? i can't seem to find another way. i can't find it under any of the menus. it seems there ought to be a more direct way to get there. joshroot
The Monthly Project index page is here: http://www.photo.net/monthly-project/ And there will be a link to that page in the "Community" dropdown menu up at the top of every page. I just need to get 5 minutes to put it in there. Busy busy week.
geoff_foale
Josh. The thing is that I'm not really a Gallery exhibitionist type of person and don't take photos to score ratings points. It's the send photo to Gallery bit that I don't really understand. Maybe, If I get a few minutes to spare I will take another look at it.
joshroot
Geoff, This has 100% nothing to do with ratings or critique. It's just a way for the photo.net members to work together to create a group of images on a similar subject. No reason to join in if you aren't interested, but if you do, it's just another way to get more visibility for your photography.
studioap
Would it be possible, in the future maybe, to have a "Submit a Photo" link on the Monthly Project pages? I too had a hard time figuring all of this out (I'm new here though). Now that I know how it's done it's really simple, but perhaps a direct link from the Project page or a note to users would be less confusing to some (such as myself)? Just a thought. Great site by-the-way.
joshroot
I need to make an instruction page. That is true.
