timwitt
This is an FTb newer style. Did the FTb ever have a split image screen? Has anyone had their microprism screen replaced with a split image screen? Can it be done properly? Which camera model is the donor if any? timwitt
Thanks for the link Howard, I did not find that in my search. Maybe since that thread, someone has obtained more information or experience. I have plenty of other cameras with split screens or interchangeable screens to choose from. Just curious about it..... User_502260
There was the option of a split image screen on the FTbN. I have two FTbN bodies but both have regular microprism screens. If you could find a non-working FTbN with the right screen then that would be one way to get one. Ken Ruth at Photograhy On Bald Mountain in Davenport, CA might be able to tell you whether some other screen could be made to fit. The Canon FX of 1964 came with a split image screen so you might want to check on whether that screen could be used. In addition to the F-1 cameras the AE-1 program has user interchangeable screens and the A-1 has "factory" interchangeable screens. You might just find that getting a used AE-1 is the least expensive way to get what you want.
timwitt
I should have updated this long ago but I sent the FTb to Ken Oikawa and he installed a horoizontal split prism focus screen. He supplied the screen.
