lookupinwonder
As my 'take anywhere' digital P&S I use a Casio S600. Metal body, very thin, very nice MPEG4 movie mode. As a camera it is nothing special, but I wanted the movie mode. Although the movie mode is really quite nice, the camera has a problem with loud noise. E.g. during a concert the gain control will fail and the sound is just one wall of distortion, very nasty. So building upon the strengths of the Casio, what would be a similar camera that can handle the noise? I emphatically am NOT looking for something like a Canon S5, or crossovers between digicams and camcorders. I want a small (emphasis on small) digicam with MPEG4 that can handle the noise. jcuknz
Obviously the camera is not designed for the extraordinary conditions people foolishly subject themselves to at concerts .. but if you must ... then how about organising a sound barrier after the fashion that people wear ear plugs. Earplugs for yourself wouldn't be a bad idea either, after all you don't want to go deaf ahead of normal degradation with age.
Charles_Webster
I wouldn't count on any device, camcorder or not, that has a built in mic being able to handle concert sound levels without overloading into total distortion. Hell, it's hard enough for the pros to cope with those levels... <Chas>
