byron_fry1
Hey everyone, I have a Nikon V and I am thinking about a Horizon 202, but I am wondering if I will be able to scan the panoramic negs?
leicaglow
I really don't think so. The film strip adapter would work, but I think it won't scan more then the length of a single 35mm frame at a time. You'd need a large format scanner like the 9000. musubi1000
You could scan them in sections using what you have now and align them in PS. I'm sure you already know this.
jefferson_steel
I'm doing it with my Coolscan 5000; I modified one of my FH-3 film holders by cutting out the frame divider nubs between positions 1 and 2, 3 and 4, and 5 and 6. This gives 3 double-width openings, which while it's not a perfect size for the 202's negatives (wider), it's certainly a better start. With the "pano-mod" FH-3, I scan each negative in 2 parts (left and right with overlap), and use Photoshop's photomerge in "flat" mode to recombine. The nub removal allows you to just slide the FH-3 instead of having to reposition the negative strip which really helps with image alignment, no matter how you stitch them back together. (You do have to reposition it a little to get the middle negative properly, but that's just a minor annoyance.) Just remember if you're scanning them in segments that you'll need to lock down the scan exposure and color balance so that you don't get variance between them. Hope that helps!
