terry_smith2
On EOS 3, 28-105/2.8 Tamron is used the most. 85/1.2 L is the favorite but rarely used. On D30, 35-135/3.5-4.5 (old version, metal mount and pre-USM) used most. 85/1.2L is also the favorite and gets used slightly more than on film bodies. 50-200/3.5-4.5 L is another favorite on any EOS body... lsaavedra
24-70 f/2.8L and TS-E 24 f/3.5L on FF body and 17-40 f/4L on crop sensor about 95% of the time. All other lenses I heve only are used on special situations or when specifically needed. Cheers
tonmestrom
when I started out at the acadamy we were allowed only to use the standard lens (50 mm or 80/90 for medium-format) and print the full negative. We had to do that for two years. It taught me to compose my photo's very carefully which meant I developed a new way of looking at things which I never lost since. I think because of that I learned to make much better photo's. Nowadays I have a lot of lenses but I still use the standard ones the most because really there is hardly a subject that you can't photograph perfectly. Zoom lenses tend to make you less carefull and as a general rule ther are of a lesser quality or you have to be prepared to invest a great deal of money. matt_needham
Today I would choose a 50mm f/1.4. Tomorrow it might be a different choice.
igord
On 5D 50/1.8 and 85/1.8 for people, 50/2.5 for studio macro and products.
yakim_peled1
Can't answer that. There's no such lens. Happy shooting, Yakim.
Brad_
Canon 10-22mm - essentially the only lens used. Why? Because I enjoy doing street photography and that's the only way to get close. www.citysnaps.net
anthony_zipple
24-105 does it all... almost. I use it as my "usually on my 40D" lens. Then there is a 10-22 for super-wide shots.... and a 70-200 IS for longer, faster work.... and a 100 macro for close work. Now, those 4 meet almost all of my needs! yakim_peled1
Hey, add 35/1.4 and 1000/11 and you have my kit... :-) Then again, the 24-105 max aperture bugs me so I think I'll replace it with 17-55. Happy shooting, Yakim.
chris_mcclinch
24-70 lives on my 40D; 70-200 f/2.8 pretty much lives on my XTi.
m_barbu1
Well, my (lovely) girlfriend surprised me with the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM for Christmas. However, if it were not for that lens, it would definitely be the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM. That's on a 20D. On a 1D Mark II, it might be the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM, only because of the extra focal length range. I don't buy any lenses slower than f/2.8 any more. The flexibility that f/2.8 (or faster) affords is just irreplaceable, IMO.

dariusz calkowski
Inside 50mm f1.8. Outside there's no such lens. I'm in too many subjects, but if i had 500f4...

images_in_light_north_west
24-105 on my 40D most of the time, followed by 17-40 then 70-
KenPapai
I own four Canon EF lenses and my favorite is whatever lens is on the camera (I own three SLRs). I've not had to compromise at all on the quality of the four lenses so no regrets ever (except when hiking or mtn biking and the heavier lens always reminding me along with the force of gravity). Like kids, I do not see how you can pick one single favorite lens, unless its siblings in your kit are slow and cheap, only then can the brilliant fave stand out. tdigi
Right now I am really enjoying my 50 1.4. Cant find that perfect zoom. hoping for a 24 to 75 ish 2.8 IS as I am sure many others are.
mwtphoto
a converted for canon carl zeiss vs24-85mm. it is very versatile and works wonderfully on my rebel xt. however when i shot landscapes i find that my carl zeiss 2.8/28mm with adapter is my lens of choice. sprouty
What ever the "standard" lens is for the format I'm shooting. I have a 17-55 for my D200 but it always feel too big and cumbersome whenever I use it.

milton-chris
When they are on the shelf at home - on one of them is the 17-70 Sigma; on another is the 10-20 and on the other is the 85/1.8. On the occasions when I take 2 on a walk-about, it is 17-70 on an XTi and 70-200 on 40D; when I take 3 on a walk-about, with wife taking one of them, the other XTi gets the 10-20. jcolwell
70-200/2.8 L IS. Why? 'Cause it's the best for "this". OTOH, 24-70/2.8 L is best for "that".

mendel_leisk
Canon 24-70, on a 5D. It suits 90% of what I shoot: mostly wide to normal, occasionally out to the 70mm end. It's fast for a zoom, can do near macro in a pinch, and just a delight.
