rubens_t_vora
Dear guys, I tried hard to learn best options to convert NEF files from Lightroom to Photoshop. My questions are: a) There is two options inside Lightroom when editing directly inside Photoshop ? PSD and TIFF. Witch one is better if criteria is preserve image quality? b) There is another option inside Lightroom that you can export the NEF files to formats PSD, TIFF, DNG and Original. How to rate those options? c) If I choose DNG and Original I am going to find a bridge to pass and find Photoshop and I presume retain the best resolution and quality. Is this correct? Doesn?t matter for me not use direct link from Lightroom to Photoshop, but render and preserve the best image quality. So witch way must I consider and in what format? Thanks for help, Rubens
ellis_vener_photography
a.) Do you mean when you export to be processed in Photoshop? Qualitatively there is no difference. b.) Since Lightroom uses the same raw converter as Photoshop CS3 (ACR 4.x) I see no point in exporting as a DNG or other raw format including NEF. SUI generally use PSD however. This isn't for quality reasons but to help me keep track of my workflow. Once I start workign on the file in Photoshop, I save it as a TIFF. ellis_vener_photography
either. But TIFF is a more universally recognized format.
