iron shore gallery
I don't understand why such a busy site http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/photo.net , ranked near one of the top 1000 sites (1200th), doesn't have a "normal" forums? Something like http://www.jamaicans.com/forums/ubbthreads.php, or http://www.theologyonline.com/index.php? I think it would add a great deal to the site. Do you agree? emre
photo.net predates them. That is why we have a high ranking (we had time to build a large user base) and why we do not have off-the-shelf software (it didn't exist).
joshroot
Our forums have been around for over a decade now. Long before packaged forum software was available. There are some features offered by "packaged" forum software that could be useful if we had them on photo.net. But overall, we feel that the look and function of our forums are clean and uncluttered. That is not something we can say about virtually all packaged forum software sites. If we could find a packaged forum software that would allow us to add features, wouldn't cause problems integrating with the rest of the site, and could keep the clean graphical design that we have always had, we might consider using it. But as it is, our forums work well for the majority of users, and we have other site issues to address before changes to the forums are considered. raynewman
As a new member of photonet.com I am finding it a bit frustrating to find anyone directly to correspond with as if you don't know anybody to start with a more of a general chat forum who you can see chatting and then ask to come in on the chat where does one start, my photography started some 40 years ago with a Brownie 127 and progressed on to 2 2/4 square and then to 35mm roll film I used to develop my own film and print my own pictures but who seems to want to know these days it's all digital (bring back the old way) is someone on the same wavelength as me who I can contact.
