eajames
Now that they are in the hands of consumers, I'm very anxious to hear some feedback about the dynamic range of the D300; comparisons to the D200 would be very helpful. All this talk about noise at high ISOs is interesting but I'm more interested in its dynamic range performance. Thanks for your input.
studor13
I also think that this is the more important question. If you are not happy with the reportedly top IQ at ISO 3200 on the D3/D300, I don't think you are ever going to be happy. Having to bracket a lot of my shots can be a real PITA. And sometimes there is no chance to bracket which means the shot is gone. Fingers crossed!

hakon_soreide
If you really want dynamic range, you should consider the Fujifilm S5.
mmene
Fujifilm S5 resolution it's just interpolation to an 6 Mpixs of the sensor. Just a D200 body with a 6 Mpix sensor boosted. Read this http://www.bythom.com/s5review.htm. By any way the photographer makes the difference, not a camera.
studor13
Michael, the photographer certainly makes the difference, but in many situations the camera also makes a difference. Try comparing the quality of a Point and Shoot 1mp camera against say the Canon 1Ds Mark III at ISO 1600 printed at 20x30 inches.
ellis_vener_photography
The Fuji S5 does have a dynamic range of EV 13 via its Super CCD array of small photo- receptors with standard size ones.. Unfortunately it also has 6Mp resolution. These are two different things. Mt D300 arrived yesterday but I won't be able to start testing until next week. I suspect the DR of D300 is going to be similar to other CMoS equipped cameras but we'll see. The EXPEED processor might make a difference.
