de_v
Greetings, I would appreciate it if anyone can tell me what film format do photographers use for the 2 pages spread of the same picture that you see in many magazines, most notably fashion. Usually it is a close up portraiture picture in a landscape position. I understand that most of it comes from 6x7? Am i correct? Can a 6x6 and 6x645 achieve this as well? russ_britt3
Yes with cropping.....for that matter a 35mm would be able to work too.I have had as big a print as 40X60 inches from 6X6 which would really be a 60X60 cropped......did if over 20 years ago shot on VPS 160asa color print film. derek_stanton2
You can use any film format to print any size. It all depends on what you want the result to look like. If grain isn't a problem, you could shoot half-frame 35mm and print across a spread ("double truck"). Re: Fashion, these days, most photographers seem to have moved to the Hasselblad H system, with a digital back. Even the guys who previously had been dedicated to film with RZs and Pentax 67s. If they're still shooting film, though, most likely it's with those two 6x7 cameras. But, guys like Terry Richardson are (still?) shooting Contax G2s for ads and editorials. And, yes, of course, you can use 6x6 or 645.
jrjacobs
Usually 6x7 is the format for a two page spread photo.
