I know I haven't been on this site long..but..I had to share. I entered a

contest online called "reflections of nature" for the Canadian Wildlife

Federation and actually won photo of the month.

My photo is the pelican shot. My prize is to be published in one of their

publications with my name credited to the photo plus a signed robert bateman

print. Pretty cool. I found out today which publication it will be in.

 

They will be publishing it in the December issue of "Canadian Wildlife". I

will get a few copies sent to me. So I'm pretty happy.

Congratulations Cheryl, that's got to brighten up the day.First published image certainly is a milestone. The 2007 issue of Dogs Annual published one of my images which won in their photo contest. I was walking on a cloud for the remainder of that day. I won a Nikon Coolpix camera which is still in the box a year later. WOW! a signed Bateman, very cool. Enjoy that happy feeling.... you've earned it.

Thanks. I'm pretty happy and can't wait to see the magazine. and yes Mike keep shooting and keep entering contests and submitting images. I'm still in a few contests but haven't heard anything yet. I am going to frame the page from the magazine when I get it!

Lovely shot. Congratulations. Hey, did you crank the exposure compensation down? (I usually have to expose about one and a half stops down for the white birds I shoot-- swans and egrets.)

I think I did lower it a bit for the pelicans. It was pretty bright out too...so I probably did..I took the pelican shots back in may when they first arrived here.

But no financial compensation right? I hope you did not sign away your rights to the photo. I'm from the old school where I expect to get paid when someone wants rights to reproduce my photos.
