Norma Desmond
Thanks, Dave. There you have it! We didn't need dialogue. We had faces!
joseph_wisniewski
I learned to paint and draw before I learned photography. When I go into "artist mode", I break down anything (sunset, flower, crystal formation, clothed woman, nude woman, family of five, bowl of fruit) into some form of artistic vision: painting, sketch, formal drawing with a certain level of detail. That gives rise to how many paints, pencils, etc. I will need to realize it, how many colors are getting mixed, how much brush or line work is going into it... When I see woman in fancy dress with elaborate jewelery and makeup, it's "my God, that needs every tube of paint in the box, and the texture on that dress is going to take hours, let alone getting the necklace right". A nude woman is a gigantic sigh of relief. Less colors, less details, more smooth curves. I often view photography that way.
