quenched
I have recently set up a studio in a sub Tropical region where a Summer is often wet, trouble is MANY couples choose to wed in this area at these times. Im thinking of offering indoor bookings for weddings in case of rain. It will go through their photographer who will book the space in advance.

Im thinking $75 non refundable deposit and an additional $75 if they exercise the booking. I can supply everything from lights to assisting and anticipate each shoot will be between 60 to 120 minutes. Is this a desirable service to photographers or should i market to the Couples/wedding planners? Is this a reasonable pricing structure? too cheap? Much appreciated. wedding-photography-denver
Not knowing the demographic of your area, I would talk with local wedding coordinators to get feedback on both the pricing and the usefulness. Best, D.

michael_notar1
im in a small town and i charge $60 hr with a 3 hr min, so 180 for 3 hrs, i drop it to 55/hr with 12 hr pkg. thats no lights, nothing, studio space only. 600 sf shooting area w/another 600 sitting area. grip equipment (stands) and small tungsten lights add $100 each (each of those are in in kits). check out rental houses in your area to compare rates. LA, NY, chicago has lots. make sure you have a INSURANCE!! liability...you should be fine since reg insurance pkgs include this...to be extra safe get a cert of insurance from them naming you. also get a CC and DL#. the only thing insurance doesnt cover is them taking off with your gear, atleast my package doesnt. since you are letting them use the equipment, its not theft according to insurance people...equip stolen out of your car...they will cover. the black rabbit
How have the many photographers done their jobs already without it? Surely they have a solution to the rain and have been doing weddings in the region for all this time? It's a good idea...but having a rain problem in the Northwest of England it is something photographers just have to deal with, and in your case unless they are crying out for it then they may not require such a facility....so I would gauge some market research first.
