stephen dohring
I shot yesterday and I almost always use rear curtain sync but it was off which left my reception backgrounds a little darker than normal. Using the fill light in LR I punched the reception shots up to where they should be but noticed an overall decrease in noise on this entire wedding (shooting with 2 D200's). So it makes me wonder is it the rear and front curtain or the latest update I just downloaded in LR. I will test soon but thought I would ask if anyone has noticed this? picturesque
I believe Lightroom 1.2 improved its noise handling ability. There were numerous complaints about that aspect when v. 1.1 came out. Also, the use of rear curtain sync does not affect background exposure... One can drag the shutter to let in the background while still using front curtain sync. Rear curtain sync just creates trailing motion blur for subjects moving across the plane of the frame. amy cupp
OOOH I will have to install the update.... I had a bit of a noise issue at my last wedding with some of the shots. I use Nikon also, though not the D200 yet
ellis_vener_photography
If you use the D80 or D40 instead of the D200 , those cameras are definitely "noisier" than the D200 at all ISOs.
amy cupp
I use the D50. I have not decided whether to switch to Canon or invest in more Nikon.
