kevin h. y. lui.
Gene, do you actually know what you are having? You are having a historical Hong Kong made camera ! It is difficult to get a Hong Kong made camera in nowadays! I agree that the quality is poor but Hong Kong, is not a place where good at optics and camera manufacturing. yann1
It took a long time for me to stop laughing and be able to write this... Brilliant M. Gene! can't wait to see what will come next. Regards.
jeff bishop
I like how the price circle has a "cents" sign. Obviously this gem was meant to sell for under a buck. When it was made, the average guy was probably making a buck an hour. Makes it seem kind of expensive...
tripanfal
Gene, Those look a lot like a "found film" funny stuff.

CosteaM
Interesting to know if any of this models ever sold. a pin-hole shoe-box takes better pictures. how low is low when comes to these "classics"?
jack_lo_..._t_o
I think you should give that camera one more shot Gene, with a person in it. I would expect that the Babette would be capable of capturing his or her soul.
jdrose
I am rolling. I wonder if the images could be improved if you were to replace the "optical" lens with something opaque.
jerry_sousa
Vintage "Made in Hong Kong" items do have a certain cache to them. Ponder if you will, the person who made this camera. He or she was probably a refugee from Mao's newly declared People's Republic of China. They might not even have been literate. They would have lived in a home built squatter's shack with no running water or toilet. If they were lucky enough to reside in Government- built public housing, they would have had to share a toilet and kitchen facilities with a dozen or so other tenants from the same floor. Entire families in the 50's and 60's were supported by their parents building cheap items like Babette. Somewhere in Hong Kong lives a sucessful professional, an accountant or lawyer, a millionaire in US$ terms. He may or may not know that his grand-parents hand assembled little toy -like objects to survive, but he owe's his well-being to their hard work and thrift. Jerry in Hong Kong.
