john_bald
A good friend of mine is running a wonderful photo workshop here in coastal Maine - just want to pass on the info. Link: http://www.kathleenclemonsphotography.com/workshops.htm "The Maine Experience" We?ll be shooting Mid-coast Maine, from lighthouses to lobster macros and everything in-between. We?ll visit some of the more famous Maine landmarks such as the Portland Head Light, Pemaquid Lighthouse, as well as some areas that only local Mainers know about. We?ll even take a ride on a working Maine lobsterboat and see how lobsters are caught, and we?ll shoot the beautiful shoreline from a boater?s perspective. We?ll visit working waterfront harbors, walk beaches, and explore all that the coast of Maine has to offer. Lensbabies will be loaning us some equipment for participants to try, so if you've been wanting to see what the Lensbaby is all about, or receive some instruction on using your own, this is your chance. You?ll return home with some wonderful imagery, great memories, and a real feel for the State of Maine . Kathleen Clemons is leading the class with Ron Goldman, both are teachers of courses at Bryan Peterson's Perfect Picture School of Photography (www.ppsop.com). Here's a link to Kathleen's work with callas: http://ppsop.blogspot.com/2007/09/calla-addiction.html
berg_na
I visited Maine earlier this year and truly enjoyed my time there. The local lobsters are really the best... <p> <center> <img src="http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/9454/mainelighthousemz4.jpg" width="704" height="530"> <p> <img src="http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/7113/lobstermenparkingcs0.jpg" width="704" height="530"> <p> <img src="http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/8653/lobstertruckgc9.jpg" width="704" height="530"> </center>
Mary Doo
Re Pemaquid Lighthouse - do have your friend check out the renovation status before promising to photograph it in early October 'cuz it was in scaffolds as of late July when I visited. I was flying over to get a aerial shot, but it was almost unrecognizable in scaffolds. The boat ride sounds like fun, as there are lighthouses in that area that are not accessible on land. john_bald
Good point, Mary! The Pemaquid LH was under scaffolding for a few months. I heard grumblings from other photographers over the summer. Fortunately, it's all cleared away now and the buildings look great. I went up at the very end of August and took this shot: http://www.johnbald.net/gallery/pemaquid.html Best regards, John

elmroc
i was so disappointed about Pemaquid with Scaffolds. I was there 2nd week of July. There are alot of other opportunities close by there thru Boothbay Harbor a short drive south, and up a liltte north to Camden. In and aaround Boothbay Harbor, follow route 96 over the east boothbay around Ocean Point for great views of the close islands and the rough surf on the granite rocks. doug_nemura2
I was there Sept. 2006 and would go back in a heart beat. I traveled from Boston to Schoodic Bay and about 2000 pictures later, I am convinced it is one of the most photographic areas in the US.<div></div>
