Nikkor 35mm AF f/2.0 lens - problem fixed?

I know that this lens has had a reputation for sticky aperture blades on this

lens. Anyone who has purchased this lens recently...can you tell me if this

problem has been finally recified by Nikon? Nikon has been awfully quiet about

this problem. I've heard about this problem for productions as late as about

2002. I really like this lens but am hesitant about buying it if this problem

has not been completely put to rest. Unfortunately there are no fixed lens

alternative to this lens at 35mm...unless I go with a third party manufacturer.

Bought mine a long time ago and no sticky or oily blades problems. I personally have not encountered the above problems with the samples I seen from stores. Small, light, & razor sharp lens w/beautiful colors, BTW. It's my normal lens now and one of my favorites. Back when film cameras were king, this lens was perceived "boring" by many and you couldn't even give this lens away. Now, it's a red hot item thanks to the 1.5X crop factor of digicams. Wish Nikon put out a f/1.4 or f/1.2 version.

I have an older Nikkor AF 35/2 (mid-1990s) that DID suffer the oily aperture blade problem. Because of that, I have been paying some attention for the last several years to the idea that Nikon fixed the issue.

I think they did fix it, because I have not seen any threads here or in other photo sites where someone complained of being bitten by oil on aperture blades of a 35/2 Nikkor bought after 2003 or so.

All the "oops" lenses seem to be older than that -- like mine.

Be well,

It appears that the D version does have the notorious oil problem. There are a couple eBay listings right now mentioning oil problems with 35mm AF-D f/2.

I have seen others listings mentioned it the past also on eBay.
