However, it is highly applicable to all three and I think worthy of posting here.]<p /> Shot a short batch tonight with Aimee down at the Gypsy. Didn't realize until I had returned home and begun to edit that the D70s was set to 1600ISO, but everything worked out in the end.<br /> <br /> A slave is always handy to have around. The SB26 unit has a built in optical trigger which, when activated, will fire the flash if any other flash is detected in the vicinity. I used an SB25 on a synch-cord, handheld as usual, to trigger the 26. D70s was shot in manual mode, and both flashes were set in manual mode.<br /> <br /> <br /> The difference an added light makes, especially at night, is quite profound. I also like catching the slave unit in my scenes - I know it is "wrong" in the eyes of many, but to me it's tantamount to taking photos around a campfire, and frankly, I like it, so that's all that matters - right?<br /> <br /> <br /> The cool thing about this sort of set-up is that one needn't own a top-end DSLR to do this sort of thing. There are mini-slaves out there that you can add to your digital P&S kit, and by using the on-camera flash to trigger the slave unit, you can add depth to your images for very little outlay.<br /> <br /> <br /> B&H Photography is a good place to start if you are interested in exploring this sort of lighting. <br /> <br /> <br /> Happy shooting!<br /> <br /> <br /> Craig<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <a href="http://a946.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/101/l_47484887e045e6a4a1b9c44da23d41b1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://a946.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/101/m_47484887e045e6a4a1b9c44da23d41b1.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a> <a href="http://a706.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/121/l_c323f1130b34e1226941c87577fc8549.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://a706.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/121/m_c323f1130b34e1226941c87577fc8549.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a> <a href="http://a189.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/121/l_d01e4fb7b2d6703c44a8171a805807e4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://a189.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/121/m_d01e4fb7b2d6703c44a8171a805807e4.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a> <a href="http://a940.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/95/l_e37db71efed8f2fb283ceea169f7601b.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://a940.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/95/m_e37db71efed8f2fb283ceea169f7601b.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a> <a href="http://a841.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/110/l_acdbe19cb273f30d679650d7500d3e00.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://a841.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/110/m_acdbe19cb273f30d679650d7500d3e00.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a> <a href="http://a944.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/125/l_1ca90000a87a704c2c0746cf07988c77.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://a944.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/125/m_1ca90000a87a704c2c0746cf07988c77.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a> <a href="http://a466.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/71/l_f57f18ba559000a22008b8c2ce5e2361.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://a466.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/71/m_f57f18ba559000a22008b8c2ce5e2361.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a> <a href="http://a796.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/94/l_666e555c8a11f8eac8f3190e014d6e93.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://a796.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/94/m_666e555c8a11f8eac8f3190e014d6e93.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a> <a href="http://a954.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/113/l_c976ddf29ed8ac57976cedfcd0f24359.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://a954.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/113/m_c976ddf29ed8ac57976cedfcd0f24359.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a> <a href="http://a402.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/110/l_c2f814b5c72179af71bd319880824d09.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://a402.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/110/m_c2f814b5c72179af71bd319880824d09.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a> <a href="http://a509.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/89/l_bfb2cc63505c598ad542fa32434a9534.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://a509.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/89/m_bfb2cc63505c598ad542fa32434a9534.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a>

cenelsonfoto
The noise levels... usual underexposure streaking in the shadows. I just punched them out of there.
vivek iyer
Glad you are having fun exercises, Craig. With so much planning (getting the subjects drunk and all), forgetting the ISO setting seems bit odd! :)
