kenneth_amorino
I was just reading a films information page and I had some questions about different development tanks. I am new to using sheet film and I thought I was using a deep tank, I have a square tank that holds metal hangers that each hold a single piece of 4x5 sheet film. But when I continued to read the info sheet there were instructions for a "hanger transport tank", I don't know what that is. I guess my question comes down to this: What kind of tank do I have? Also: I read that deep tanks need an extra 5% to 10% development time, is this true? Thanks
ronald_moravec1
Hangar transport tank. Never heard that one. Maybe it is the rack that olds multiple individual hangars. Deep tanks only need longer times if you reuse developer or replenish it or you agitate less often than small tanks assuming the very same emulsion and contrast lenses. In short test to see what prints properly.
jerry_kirkwood
I gave up useing a tank. I now use a Unicolor drum on a motor base (but it could be rolled accrost a tabletop too). The advantage is it uses about 8oz of chemicals for 4 4x5 or 2 8x10 negs, and except for pouring in and out it's hands off. I'll never go back to a tank.
