jay_bees
What is the consensus amongst those here on the Eizo CG series LCD monitors vs the NEC monitors such as the LCD2690WUXi-BK-SV? Should I be looking at others? I am most interested in color accuracy, large gamut (as much of the Adobe RGB 1998 gamut as can be displayed). Price vs. performance is obviously also a concern. Any of you folks have any experience to share? What about the Eizo CE series? These appear to be much more conventional than the CG series. frans_waterlander
"Take a look at the Lacie 526 at www.Lacie.com" Yes, LaCie did it again! They buy the LCD2690WUXi-BK-SV from NEC, claim slightly higher gamut numbers (how they justify that heavens only knows) add a hood, drop the warranty from 4 years to 3 years, rename it the LaCie 526 and charge $420 more than NEC. amadou_diallo
I have an Eizo CG21 and an NEC 1980SXi (the current models have UXi in the product name). The NEC is a great value. With the NEC Spectraview calibration software and a supported colorimeter or spectrophotometer you get maybe 85-90% of the performance of the Eizo at a much lower price.
Amadou Diallo
Author, Mastering Digital Black and White
jay_bees
Thanks for the responses. The Samsung 24-inch with LED backlight looks like it will be what I'm looking for as I like 24-in displays. I wonder what the cost will be and when it will ship? http://www.photographyblog.com/index.php/weblog/comments/samsung_24_inch_led_backlit_monitor/
frans_waterlander
The price of the Samsung XL20 20" LED backlit unit at one time was indicated to cost about US$2000 and it may have started shipping. Googgle Samsung XL20 and you'll learn more. This monitor is not on my short list because it is not IPS technology.
jay_bees
I picked up a NEC LCD2690WUXi-BK-SV and have found it to be a outstanding monitor. I calibrated to D65, 2.2, 120cd/m? using the Spectraview II software and re-badged GMB Eye One hardware.
