Actions not working in photoshop-help!

My actions have stopped working in Photoshop 7.0. Up until now I have used them

all the time and now they won't work. My background layer is locked so I have

tried duplicating it and making new layers but my actions still will not work. I

push the play button and NOTHING happens. I think that my background layer being

locked is new because I have always worked on my background and have never made

a new layer to use my actions. Any ideas???? I have searched the web and tried

the suggestions but nothing seems to be working. HELP!

Katie, I'm not sure why you actions aren't working, but the background layer is always locked by default. This doesn't prevent you from working on it, it's just not a good idea, it's safer to work on a copy or adjustment layer when possible. Paul

I have a friend who this happened to as well. I sent her some actions created in CS3 and she installed on CS1. They worked fine yesterday and now she gets a 'no sign' when she tries to run ANY action - even newly installed photoshop default actions. I'm trying to help her find an answer.

<p>OK, this just happened to me (CS3, Windows XP SP2) !<br>

I have rebooted my computer, tried different images, tried different actions. I have found a few other posts elsewhere on this topic but nobody had a solution<br>

Any ideas?<br>
