paul_ferrante
I have run across several ads for lenses that say for Canon or Nikon. I have aD80. Are the mounts the same on Canon and Nikon cameras or are they giving you achoice of either mount?

jautey
Those ads are usually for third party lens manufactures (Sigma, Tokina, Tamron etc.). You'd order the lens mount that works for you camera. Thus for a D80 you would order x lens with a nikon mount.
paul_ferrante
Thanks, it is what I expected, but a couple of the ads weren't clear and didn't give you a place to choose.
sam_thompson2
Some lenses mostly cheap mirror lenses come with a universal mount called the T-mount. You might be looking at ads for those if they don't give you a choice on which mount you wish to purchase.
