dennis lee
Fuji S3 or even the S2 are good buys right now with the new S5 out. Prices will be coming down on the S3's and S2's are already really cheap. I just bought an S5, looks pretty darn nice. good luck, Dennis http://dennislee.smugmug.com/gallery/2516942
Peter_in_PA
"The Kodak SLR/N gives very film-like tonality" I've used one of these quite a bit. It is slow, ungainly, hard to use, uncomfortable... I have nothing good to say about it except image quality, which is great. But if the camera is so clunky to use that you can't even get the shot... who cares. There's a reason Kodak got out of the Digital SLR market. They sucked at it.
robgomez
Is it really worth it to move away from Nikon or other major players in the photography world? Especially since I already have Nikon lenses. I would much rather go with Pentax or Minolta than Kodak or Fuji. I'm sure they're good cameras, but I don't think it's worth it. And the fact that Nikon and Canon dominate the profession, it would be easier to find lenses and support. R P.S. .. I heard Pentax is underrated. bill_keane2
The Fuji S2/S3 use the Nikon lens mount... But even at their cheapest would likely go for more than a D40. The Pentax 10D looks and feels like a great machine, but it's back up in the D80 price range... Just check to see if the lenses you want to use will have the functionality you need on a D40. Sorry if this was already mentioned earlier...
