Also confused about Pocket Wizards

Recommended Posts

If I understand previous posts correctly,I will need 2 Pocket Wizards (Plus 11

Model) to trigger a studio strobe; unless the strobe has a built in receiver.

To wirelessly trigger the strobe I would need to attach the first Pocket Wizard

to the camera's hot shoe, and then attach a second Pocket Wizard to the

strobe. I have a Photogenic l500 monolight. How do I attach the second Pocket

Wizard to the strobe? Is there a better way to go wireless in this scenario?

Thanks.

You use a sync cable to connect to the flash. It's been so long since I bought mine that I don't

remeber if there is one included.

"is there a better way to go wireless sync?" Not in my experience. I have also worked with

Hawk, three genrations of Quantum Radio Slaves, Broncolor, and Wein Infra-Red. The

Pocketwizard systems (correct spelling) have far and away been the most reliable.

I wouldnt go back to wires or optical slaves for anything. I recommended these Pocket Wizards to a friend in Germany; he balked at the expense at first, then missed several shots after lugging his heavy flash gear to remote locations. He then bought the Pocket Wizards, and they havent failed him yet. We just spent two weeks together on a collaboration, and had great success; three transmitters and nine receivers between us, and zero missed shots.

When I remind him of how reluctant he was before of spending the money, he says, "yes, I know this now, but I had to find out (try inferior products) for myself". 'nuff said.
