michaelbrochstein
I am contemplating whether to buy a Nikon F100 and was wondering if anyone had any experience or good knowledge as to whether the F100 can use NiMH "AA" batteries (not in the optional grip but in the camera itself). Thanks for all your shared wisdom ahead of time!
Michael R Freeman
Yes. No problems at all with NiMH.
leicaglow
Hmm, I've used Lithium, but I don't know about NiMH. My guess is they would work.
Michael R Freeman
NiMH do work (I used them for awhile) but I also much prefer Lithium AA's in mine. My F100 often sits unused for weeks on end, and NiMH batteries tend to go dead in the camera. The Lithium AA's last a longgggg time, with the added benefit that they are lighter and work much better in the cold.
Ed_Ingold
NiMH batteries work well in an F100 (or F5). A 2500 mAH NiMH will last longer than an alkaline AA, but not as long as a Lithium battery. NiMH batteries lose about 15% of their charge in a week. Make sure you charge them before a job and have spares on hand. It's a good idea to keep a set of Li batteries in on hand in case you forget. Jerry_
Some F100 bodies may work very well: some will shoot a couple of rolls and when the 1.2v cells drop a bit of voltage, the camera will cease to work. Nikon made the F100 to operate on 1.5v cells (AA) and unless you have 1.5v NiMH cells, you have a camera that may or may work very well. (The Nikon F5 has a selection of AA cells in the custom function area to pick from: the F100 does not.)

joseph_smith3
Mine works fine with NiMh batteries. Joe Smith
anthony nardelli
I own two of these fine photographic devices and not only do they work with NiMH batteries but they seem to like it better. The lower internal impedence of NiMH over alkaline batteries apparently allows for more frames per second shooting. Of course, my obversations are largely anecdotal but I stand by them.
