Action to Resize for Web?

I want to create an action to resize and save for web a series of images. Some

are landscape and some are portrait orientation. Could anyone offer advice on

how to create an action to do this. It would obviously involve changing the

image size with some type of 'relative' option - although cant find it in the

image size menu....

Have a look at the "fit image" command which will constrain the image size to a maximum hight AND width

Thanks - my problem is where you have a bunch of images some of which are portrait and some are landscape. If I enter a width for the landscape images, the action wont work on portrait images. Am trying to design an action that will work on all images.

Fit image will work on both.

Do what Craig suggests. "Fit Image" was made for exactly your need. You specify a

maximum square dimension and the image is shrunk to fit into that area; if it is portrait, the

vertical is shrunk, if it is landscape, the horizontal is shrunk to fit.

 

Do that and enjoy!

File >Scripts > Image Processor. input the same hreight and width (in pixels). Run script.

Thanks - gosh, I really needed this yesterday when I was processing 300 images.

Most of the shareware image viewers have this function built-in. Just select your files, specify desire width and/or height, destination etc.

In Photoshop you can also use File-Automate-Web Photo Gallery.

 

Then just use the Images folder that is created. Very fast.
