emmanuel_b1
Hi there, I just received my 45 CL-4 from EBay. It seems working perfectly. The Ni-Cd pack seems also dead. Is there something to do with? I think about changing Ni-Cd by Ni-Mh , but probably the charger isn't the good one in this case. I think also replace by new Ni-Cd accus. But how to open this pack? Any idea is welcome. -- Emmanuel
smithpic
Good reading here: http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=008f0H and also here: http://www.xs4all.nl/~wiskerke/artikelen/metzengl.html I have three 45 series flashguns, and two 60 series guns. Two of the 45's I run with Quantum battery packs, but when I need to travel "light" I run them with NiMh cells in standard Metz AA battery holders, both of which have been converted with a strip as shown in the second link I posted. I've never been able to break a Metz flashgun, despite dropping them from great heights, and one ending up in a river once! I've been through a couple of Canon flashguns, and one Sigma - yet the Metz just keep on working and keep on delivering reliable and constant light output (they're also all the same colour light). Hope this helps. Paul Smith
emmanuel_b1
I saw a lot of things about that. Now , I give up the idea to transform my Ni-Cd pack to Ni-Mh. Just to be sure: Is it possible to use Ni-Mh inside the batteries holder 45-39?
smithpic
In the name of science and my own curious mind ;-) I just removed the bridging strip from one of my standard AA battery inserts to take it back to standard 45-39. It is loaded with NiMH batteries, and the flash runs exactly the same as it did before. Recycle times are the same as before, there is no heat build up, in fact it seems to work exactly the same as it does when running on regular AA alkaline batteries :-) -- Paul
emmanuel_b1
In the name of science (empiric science , isn't it), thank you.
