davidclapp
I just cannot get my head around it, my pictures do not come up in the Top Photos yet I have a picture with 12 critiques, 5000+ views over 24hours and Aesthetics: 6.17/7 Originality: 5.92/7
http://www.photo.net/photodb/ photo?topic_id=1481&msg_id=00J8CS&photo_id=5297548&photo_sel_index=0
Can someone explain to me why this is as my last image had some 50000 views and is number four when the viewer is set to 'average' for a monthly period.
I am really trying to expose my work and portfolio but something must be wrong as there are so many images with less scores than mine.
Can someone explain how this works
davidclapp
What I didnt say clearly is that if the picture had a low score I would understand it not being visible, but due to the high volume of people looking at the image, the good anonymous ratings why cannot I not see it anywhere? Bizarre...
graybrick
If you uploaded the shot to the server more than three days ago then it won't appear in the default 3-day TRP view.
davidclapp
No the post was yesterday. The link above doesnt work, says it doesnt exist, I cant understand why. If you go to my workspace and click on Trevose Lighthouse in the forum posts section you will see it has had 5000 views.
I just want to know are there rules about posting too often or soemthing? I cant see how well rated photo cannot be seen?
billk
I've had the same thing happen to me. The whole rating system here is seriously messed up. I've been a subscriber here for the last few years, my subscription expired a few days ago and I won't be renewing. Another problem are the anonymous raters, some of whom wouldn't know a good photo if they saw it.
WJT
Dave, when I look at your Seascapes folder and click on the Details tab, I see that your Trevose Lighthouse photograph (a very nice photograph, by the way) was submitted on the 5th of December. Well, my friend, that is why you do not see it in the TRP. You need to request a critique as soon as you upload your photograph, otherwise it will never make it to the TRP because its time has expired. The TRP starts counting down from the time that you originally uploaded, not from when you request the critique. Great idea, is it not? (just kidding)
Furthermore, this does not even begin to consider that your photograph right now has really only seven actual ratings. That is, ratings that count towards placement in the default view of Gallery (Rate Recent Average). I say seven ratings because one of the anonymous ratings is from a "new member" (whatever that means) and does not count. Indeed, you may even have less than seven if any of those anonymous ratings were generated from the Category interface instead of the Rate Recent interface. I realize that all this must be as clear as mud by now ;0)
The bottom line is not to worry about the TRP and the Gallery! It will drive you into a total raving madman just as it has done to me. It would be far better for your to just keep on taking good photographs, like you have been doing. Forget the Gallery.
Any way, I also like your Ardnamurchan Night photograph. It is not too dissimilar from something that I took when I was on Prince Edward Island this past Fall. Regards.
