ernie.grimes
Do any of you use Russell Brown's technique in CS2 to change images from color to B&W or do you have a better method? Thanks Ernie

rich815
It's all I use. It is the best IMO. Channel Mixer is too much of a pain to adjust, then look and see, adjust, look and see, and keep them all balanced too. The RPB method sliding that Hue slider allows you to see all nuances as you slide and choose the one you like best the easiest. I saved it as a PS Action and then just click the second Layer and adjust the Hue and see the differences. Too many people get married to the Channel Mixer method because they read about it and it's all they know.

continuity
I'm fond of the measured luminance method described here at Zuber Photographics. Kind of gives a view of how B&W film would see the colors. eric merrill
Ernie: What I like about Russell's technique? Makes sense to me. I can visually see what I'm getting. I respond better to seeing the blues slightly darker or lighter than I do seeing a higher or a lower number. :) Eric
Brad_
Or, you can use Imaging Factory's Convert to B&W Pro. Gives you input color filtration, exposure control, film emulation and output toning in one real-time window. Better than all other methods and very intuitive. www.citysnaps.net
