norman_wijaya
I have M6 TTL and today while in my camera shop I had a chance to lookat MP and the viewfinder is much brighter and has more contrast thanmy M6. Is this a well known fact? My M6 does not have the viewfinderupgrade but as I understand it only affect the flaring of the patch. So is the MP viewfinder really brighter or does my M6 TTL viewfinderneed cleaning ?
alan_wilder1
Your M6 TTL needs cleaning. The upgrade really justs takes care of the RF patch flare. I've had both and the MP isn't significantly brighter or more contrasty.
stuart_richardson
It may be age, but it has been my experience that MP's are a bit brighter and contrastier than M6's, but I have not seen any NIB M6's, so I am not sure. It would make sense that the multicoating would make it slightly brighter since it will allow it to transmit more on axis light.
emanuel_lowi1
It's not just the RF patch. The framelines also look brighter on the MP, they almost seem to glow in some conditions. The viewfinder seems just a little brighter over all.
SolaresLarrave
They look the same to me, Norman. My M6TTL bodies are fairly recent and their VFs are very clean... In fact, they're cleaner than an MP's VF with tendency to collect dust inside.
norman_wijaya
Thanks for all the replies, I purchased my M6 used so I have no basis for comparison of a clean viewfinder NIB. Looks like I'm gonna have to have it cleaned
terry_rory
I have no MP with which to compare but my M6 TTL was NIB up until about 4 weeks ago. The VF is very clear & bright.
terry_rory
Whilst on the topic, how much does it cost to have the multicoating done? (Especially in the UK if anyone here has had it done.) Thanks
paul_neuthaler
The MP has the brightest, most contrasty viewfinder I have ever seen in an M -- bar none. I don't know why. Here's mine. . .<div></div>
tony_senzaorbi
That's an M4-P not an MP.
paul_neuthaler
That's what I mean't, Tony, M4-P. Take a look through the viewfinder of one. . .
Rob F.
MP beats the M4P by a wide margin. I have M2, M3, M6 classsic, M6 TTL, M7. My MP beats them all for crystal clarity and brightness.
