  1. Leica R winder (not motor winder/power pack with side grip), in user condition. Used but not abused (looks really nice from a distance). It takes two CR2 batteries. I have used mine with my R8 and R9 bodies and it works perfectly. However, I don't use it enough to keep it, so my loss is your gain. Send me $235.00 via Paypal and it's yours, with USPS shipping included. Leica R 90mm f2.8 Elmarit, 3-cam. Comes in very good shape, some signs of use in the focusing ring but altogether in excellent shape, with original box (shop worn), UV filter, front and rear caps. I used it in my R8 and R9 cameras and it worked perfectly. It's going for $450.00, with free shipping via USPS. Should you want additional photos of either item, let me know and I'll be glad to help. Returns allowed only 10 days after receipt, and if there's a significant discrepancy between the description and the item. Payment exclusively via Paypal (I am absorbing the fees) and shipping only within the continental USA. If you are interested, send me an e-mail to franciscosl at yahoo dot com with the name of the item you're interested on in the subject line.
  2. Leica R Vario-Elmarit 28-90mm f2.8-4 ROM, with both original caps, Comes in a Pentax case with two B&W filters (UV and yellow). Purchased from a store in New Zealand, and I'm using their photos but can send you more (and photos made with the lens) if you let me know . I thought I'd like it but it's just not for me. This copy is used but very good. The focusing ring goes a bit beyond the infinite mark, but this has no effect on the performance. The zoom lens was a bit gritty but it became smoother with use. If you buy it you'll find that after a while it works fine. Also, I was told there was a small blemish in the front element but I haven't found it. It has no effect on the final image anyway. I am selling this lens for $2,505. + $20.00 for insured shipping with signature required. Payment only via Paypal, and I will ship only to the address registered in Paypal. I ship only within the CONUS to keep costs reasonably low. Price is firm. No trades accepted. If you have any further questions send me a note to <franciscosl> at <yahoo> dot <com> and I'll be glad to assist you.
  3. Thanks for taking the time to reply! I was thinking about purchasing a used Z6 so your advice comes in handy.
  4. Well, a quick Google search gave me an answer: no need to worry. I can download the app into my iPhone for free and use it with the camera I purchase. Sorry about posting a question that was so easy to answer. Have fun!
  5. My newest camera is a D800, which probably didn't participate of the benefits of Snap Bridge. I'm contemplating the purchase of a Nikon Z6 or Z6II (used or new). Now, my question is the following: do I have access to Snap bridge if I purchase a used body or can I simply download the app for free and connect it with the camera once I have purchased it? In other words, is the acquisition of the app conditioned by the camera status (new or used)? Thanks in advance for your kind replies!
  6. I have sold Leica glass and never looked back, simply because it was taking up room in my bags and not being enjoyed. Now, the only Leica camera I sold was an M3... and, occasionally, I find myself looking at the ones I see for sale and thinking about getting one again... But then, I shoot mostly with 35mm lenses, so the M3 would be, again, in my bag, gathering dust.
  7. For a traditional Leica M6, the Nikon weaponry does well (agree with Kurt about the SB-28). Other than that you can go for more economic models and you'll do fine. The SF20 works fine with the M6TTL but the SF24 is for digital bodies and the Minilux (IIRC). If you cannot get your hands on a used Nikon (SB26 comes to mind), look for the Vivitar line too. There are lots of choices and many are automatic too!
  8. May I inquire where is it you sent it? Was it to a Leica specialist or to a camera repair shop? In any event, they will know more than you, so I would recommend that you let them work their magic on your camera, or else you'll have it, use it, find that it's not good and ship it back (on your penny). But it's your camera, so do as you please... Best of luck!
  9. I have a silver Summilux Asph (the 35mm), and use a Leica UV filter with it, but also a bunch of other filters, ilke Tiffen and B&W. Never had a problem with them. I did experience that situation of the hood not fitting on the lens with the Nokton 35mm f1.4, so, be aware...
  10. Often, the horizontal problem doesn't mean a thing. Have you shot a roll of film to find out if your photos would be unfocused?
  11. The same happened to me with some old Nikon lens. Modern Tiffen filters didn't fit well, so I had to wait until someone offered a set of old filters for sale. Talk about the proverbial perfect fit! Hence, look for old Leitz filters instead. Explore KEH or call stores like B&H or Adorama or take a long, hard look at the eBay offers. There's nothing wrong with your lens or the filter you purchased; it simply happens that the filter thread doesn't match the lens's. Have fun shopping!
  12. Well, I wear glasses and won't complain about my Leica bodies. They're all 0.72, with the exception of my M3, which is 0.91 (IIRC). Ted, the magnification you want may be priced above average. If you find a body with 0.58 at the right price, good for you. But I'd recommend that, if you want to use glass wider than 50mm, just stay away from 0.85 and take the first 0.72 that comes your way. Take care!
  13. All the advice above is correct. Don't do anything with the flash except make sure you have fresh batteries. I have the same gear you have (D700 and SB-600, but 24-70 AF=S lens). You may want to change the AF to C instead of S, and ensure that the focusing points center on the dancer, not the background (as it was the case with your sample). Try panning the camera or zooming in or out slowly during exposure with slow-sync flash. It adds some effect that you may like. Best of luck!
  14. I use Zeiss Biogon lenses... and have used them in my Leica bodies and in Contax G cameras. The Planar is a beautiful lens. If I were more a 50mm user than a 35mm fan, I'd get one. A friend of mine has a Leica M240 with that lens, and he's made beautiful shots with them. If you have a shot at it. by all means, nab it. As for the hood... it's worth buying because it's designed to NOT interfere with the viewfinder window. The cheapies sold on eBay (43mm, black, nice looking metal hoods) MAY block the viewfinder when you turn them onto the filter threads. Then, they may not... but you won't find out until you put the hood on the lens.
  15. Just budget a CLA within the next 6 months and sleep in peace, knowing that, whether it needs it, it'll get nicely recalibrated and lubricated and cleaned soon enough. Take care!
  16. Like Robin said, does the camera actually need a CLA? You say it's working well... so a CLA would be a waste of money. If you were talking about a 20 year old camera that's developed some mechanical quirk, then yes. But this one is... how old? Not even 10 years, right? Also, you're contemplating a Leica. Since you use a Bessa R2 (which has an M-mount), and it's metered, I'd consider a metered Leica body since you don't say whether you have had experience shooting without an on-board meter. Now, if you do... the choice you have in mind (either an M2 or M4) is more than adequate. In any event, sounds like you want a Leica anyway, so go for it. BTW, what lens/es do you use with your Bessa R2? Just curiosity...
  17. If the camera focuses well at all distances except for infinity, it can be used, probably with the exception of infinity. I have a Leica M4-P with that problem; I checked it with all the lenses I have (I was assuming that the lens had a collimation problem) and saw that the rangefinder (the patch in the center of the viewfinder) just won't align well and correctly at infinity. There's always a hairline difference. It´s just OK. Just tell her that if she wants to use it at infinity, say, in a landscape, focus at something closer rather than farther, and close down the lens. I have been using my Leica that way, and all my photos are in focus. Later, she can send it for adjustment, but then... tell her to be prepared as Bessas have a tendency to get the rangefinders out of alignment with a malevolent ease...
  18. You should be able to use the LTM lenses in your arsenal with the M6 you'd like to buy, because they will probably meter without a hitch. Only if the rear element is waaaay too long will it have an effect on metering (and here come in the Super-Angulon, an old M-mount version of the 21mm first lens, and the first version of the Elmarit 28mm). It happens that the M6 has a meter that reads light reflected on a white patch that's painted on the shutter curtain. This patch reflects light to a meter eye located inside the body, on the 12 o'clock position. The eye reads the reflected light and that's how the camera meter works. Just to be on the safe side, which LTM glass would you use with your potential M6? PS. I have used a Canon LTM 35mm f2.8 with one of my M6TTL bodies and it works perfectly well.
  19. To me, soft-release buttons are a must; they reduce shaking and help shoot at very slow speeds. Because that's the beauty of RF cameras: that one can use very slow shutterspeeds and get the image. At least, that's the case for me. I cannot shoot my dSLR at 1/8, but there's no problem doing it with my Leicas... thanks to the softie (which makes it even easier).
  20. Try Here. http://www.kyoceraimaging.com/bulletins/csb2.htm Best of luck!
  21. Probably my M4-2 with a 35mm lens and the Summicron 90. It's my favorite combination...
  22. Like Gus said, a camera that works properly and won't fail you in the middle of a trip or shoot, is the best thing to have, no matter the looks. Since you paid a relatively low amount for this M2, consider yourself fortunate, re-skin it, and then use it. The marks on the body add character, but they won't necessarily lower your chances of getting a better price in case you choose to turn it around. Just don't expect a fortune. One thing: did the previous owner supply proof of the camera having been CLAed? That'd help... although not a lot. In any event, heck, use it. These cameras were made to burn film.
  23. All Leica cameras, with the exception of the M5, M6, M6TTL, M7 and the most recent MP, are meterless. Hence, the M3, M2, M4, M4-2 and M4-P have no meter, and you may need to buy a separate hand-held meter to check the light before taking a photograph if you are using any of these bodies. Take care!
