yoyo_szeto
Hi All, I want to capture images of samples examined with a microscope. I have tried to shoot through the eyepiece but the results were not good. Is there an adapter for an EOS camera to the eyepiece? What are your tips on the subject? yoyo
SCL
Most major mfrs. produce adapters for microscope use...Canon has done so for many years. Also third party mfrs produce them. For years I used a setup which consisted of nesting filter adapter rings and shot thru the eyepiece. It lacked slr flexibility, but won me numerous science fair awards. The most important aspect, exposure aside, was to ensure absolute rigidity of the setup...camera was mounted on a rigid stand and lowered into position. I typically used tri-x rated between ASA 320-400. Never had good results from flash of live subjects without frying them, although today I think that's much easier. BTW, everything works much easier if you have a trinocular with the built in photo-tube. Check your local library or the web for good books on photomicrography. Good luck

mormegil
You might have better luck finding T-Mount adapters for both the scope and the Camera. We've just got a Olympus C5050 P&S mounted on one of our fluorescent scopes here, but I've seen T-Mounts with SLRs in other labs.
jcolwell
The Asahi Pentax Microscope Adapter II (for M42 screw-mount camera), plus a M42 to EF adapter does a fine job.
