Emulating Darkroom Techniques in Photoshop - Recommendations?

<p>I basically have no darkroom experience to speak of, but am

interested in getting a "how-to" book on emulating some traditional

darkroom techniques with respect to monochrome images in Photoshop.

I'm interested in techniques such as dodging and burning and lith

printing, as well as colour to monochrome conversion and duotones.

I'd be working on images that were originally both captured

digitally and on film (in both colour and black and white), and my

aim would be to produce quality prints on a desktop photo

printer.</p>

<p>'Black and White (The Digital Photography Expert)' by Michael

Freeman (<a href="http://www.ilex-press.com/publishing/product.php?

productid=16200&cat=248&page=2">

www.ilex-press.com/publishing/product.php?

productid=16200&cat=248&page=2</a>) looks good, although there's no

mention of lith in the online table of contents. Two others that

also looked promising were 'Digital Black and White Photography

(Step-by-Step)' by John Beardsworth (<a href="http://www.ilex-

press.com/publishing/product.php?productid=16139&cat=248&page=2">

www.ilex-press.com/publishing/product.php?

productid=16139&cat=248&page=2</a>) and 'A Comprehensive Guide to

Digital Black & White Photography' by John Clements (<a

href="http://www.avabooks.com.sg/avauk/details.php?id=17">

www.avabooks.com.sg/avauk/details.php?id=17</a>).</p>

<p>Anyone familiar with these books? Or perhaps have a good

alternative suggestion? Thanks</p>
