hwyblues
I survived my first boxing assignment. The advice given by Bernard, Jeff and Lex was very helpful -- including the advice to bring a towel. The hardest part (and the part I have not yet mastered) is anticipating the action. Although I am happy with the results of my first outing, I think I can do better with more practice. Thanks again. As promised I am posting a few pictures. ben_kriete
I am not an expert by any means, but you've got some nice captures. I think they would both (especially the first one) be improved by cropping to vertical format to focus attention on the fighters.
lex_jenkins
Hey, isn't that Virgil Hill? That big grin looks familiar. Virgil reminds me of Evander Holyfield: Not a devastating puncher or particularly outstanding in any single area, but does everything well enough to be the complete package. And he's proven to be more durable than most fighters younger than he. Nice photos, Monte. You're off to a good start. You must be from North Dakota, yes? BernardMiller
Monte-- Hope you had a lot of fun shooting the fights--you did, as Lex said, get some very nice shots first time out! Bet you're hooked now... All the best!
hwyblues
Yes, I am from North Dakota. Although he has not lived here for a long time, Virgil still promotes the state by waiving North Dakota flags at his events. I am definately hooked and am looking forward to shooting another boxing event in the near future. Like most sporting events, watching on tv is great, but being there is so much better. Spearhead
Nice work. You can usually sell prints of shots like the second one easily. The first may sell also. Try the trainer, or the gym. Music and Portraits Blog: Life in Portugal
