ben conover
Hi, I am in Ireland, the middle of nowhere and the back of beyond.People still use 35mm here...... I have thrown out 20 rolls of unprocessed 35mm color film because I can't afford to get it done. No more 35mm colour, ever! However, I have 40 rolls of 120 film which I really want to get done. This includes C41, Neopan, Provia, and Tech Pan. I have tried the phone book and the web but can't seem to find anyone in Ireland who does a cheap and good job on 120 film.Maybe I will end up mailing it all to U.S. for developing and scanning to CD. I really ned to see what's on the film, I doubt if I will want to keep and enlarge more than 10 frames of the lot. I have been consiering Dan's camera city. They charge $15 per roll of Tech Pan, plus $8 for CD per roll. Other film types are cheaper though. Any ideas about places in Ireland or cheaper mailers from States? Many thanks. colmmccarthy
There used to be a Dutch chap who ran a lab out of a basement in Merrion Square in Dublin. He did excellent work for me. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. His name escapes me, but there can't be too many photo labs in Merrion Square.
dave_osborne
You could try Peak Imaging in Sheffield... good and cheap mail order service that ships outside UK. Google their website. Always has done a good job for me.
lex_jenkins
If you're forced to delay processing of your exposed film keep it in the freezer (or, at least, the fridge). This will help preserve shadow detail, altho' correctly exposed film will retain its latent image for many years.
ben conover
Thanks Dave I'll have a google at Peak imagining in Sheffield. Perhaps I will find that place in Merrion saqure too, sounds good Colm. I threw our 20 rolls of 35mm colour, because they had been in my fridge for two years! awaiting proccessing. So, I will stick with medium format B+W and just limit my usage, thanks Lex.
i want my photo.net histor
Ben, While I was in Cork, I used to get my slides done by dlab7.com in the Channel Islands. I think that they are really just an arm of 7dayshop.com and so you might be able to buy your film there too. I know that the do Ilford mailers too. ben conover
Rav, I just sent of all my 645, 66, and 69 rolls to Dan's camera city. Gonna be expensive. I just asked for scans to C.D. so I can see anything worth printing. Doubt if I'll get more than a few worth enlarging. I will post results if Dan's do a good job. I had thought of dlab7 and someone here recomended 7day shop, I'll try them sometime. Cheers for all your help and happy reindeer to all. Ben. sander_vesik
You can get very good and professional service in say Conn's Cameras (http://www.connscameras.ie/) which is just a small distance off Grafton street in Dublin. Extermely friendly and professional place and also has a good selection on film and equipment. Mind, Ireland is not exactly a cheap country in Europe. chughtai
Have a little update on this thread: I just found out that Repo35 (of 68 Merrion Sq.) has recently gone out of business and the only other place in dublin that does E6 is FujiFilm Lab on Upper Abbey Street, Dublin-1.
