Just few category suggestions...

What do you think regarding adding the following categories to the

site?

Editorial:

These are the shots which usually get done for editorial purposes .

They can help in explaining/exhibiting a point or the main subject

of an article or a story.

A good editorial shot serves a purpose just like a good movie score

(which at times means adding to whole story without dominating it)

and its characteristic are clearly different than an artistic or

casual portrait.

Art directors usually require them in certain ways and achieving

them is not necessarily like many other good shots.

Even the aesthetic of them can be effected based on the layout of

the page, texts etc.

Photographers might like to share the reasons of why they had to

shoot it this way and what were their challenges in doing so.

Glamour and Beauty:

So not every single shot of clothed models posing, have to end up in

fashion category when clearly many of the images are about the

beauty and sex appeal of the subject and are not done in

fashion/editorial fashion style.

Advertisements:

Where new and professional photographers can learn from each other

regarding professional layouts as well as different elements which

create a good and smart advertising campaign. From Fashion to Food,

Events, independent Films, galleries etc.

I agree on the Advertisements and on the Glamour and Beauty, I am not so sure on the editorial. But at the same there are so many categories as it is. But your arguments are reasonable, specially regarding G&B , theres a big line between fashion and nudes and many images would fit better somewhere in between and not under portraits. Just an opinion.

I've asked for a studio only forum for some time. There's a good forum out there were people post still life and people pics and techniques and discuss. The people and lighting forums don't cut it. Another good one would be just for photoshop art/photos. Post pics and discuss and learn. The digital darkroom is too broad and filled with colour management problems by people that have 5k in computers and software but no $20 books.
