uli_theune
In short: 9.1 EV is a measure for the intensity of the light coming to the sensor that requires a shutter time of 1/90 sec and an aperature of F5 for an "optimum" exposure at ISO 400. You don't really control this value, but rather shutter time and aperature.
bernard_frank
EV = exposure value. Well, you can control EV, in a way. When using exposure compensation, you usually have a certain range of compensation expressed in EV. On the D2X, it goes from -5EV (underexposure) to +5EV (overexposure) in 1/3 EV increments. Since either the speed or the aperture are altered, depending on the shooting mode, it has to be expressed in EV.
