digitmstr
>>but the price keep going up everywhere<< It has nothing to do with the production "age" of the lens. It has everything to do with the very high demand and the increasing costs due to oil and other soaring prices. It will likely get worse... KenPapai
I am sure *someone* knows. The longer you wait the fewer photos you'll be taking -- just to save 50 bucks or something.
bobatkins
If Canon were going to offer rebates, it would be the dumbest move in the world to let that information leak out ahead of time, unless they actually want to lose revenue.
Maybe they should start a rebate rumor, then slowly raise prices. Then when they don't offer a rebate, everyone fooled by the "leak" will have to pay the higher prices!
david_wright4
They've just announced a cashback offer in Europe against the 20D camera, nothing on lenses announced. 100 pounds (150 euros) off the price of a 20D, takes it down to around 800 pounds for the body only. http://canoneos20dpromotion.onlinerebates.com/intro.aspx Runs from 15th September through to the end of the year. bobatkins
Canon had a $100 rebate on the EOS 20D ($500 on the 1D Mk II) here in the US which ran from April 15th through July 15th. I don't think Canon USA and Canon Europe always follow the same marketing policies with respect to rebates. There could be something coming in the USA, but nobody knows until (and if) it gets here! Info on rebates doesn't tend to "leak" until pretty close to the announcement date. I haven't heard of any hard evidence of a US rebate (other than forum threads like this one!)
