mike_l__dc_
What lense size do pro surf photographers use when shooting surfing action from the beach (like at Pipeline)? Help!
presniakov
Mike Canon 600mm f4.0 L is the industry standard. It will run you at least $7,000 new. Here is a link to samy's camera with info on the pro surf photographer's lens of choice when shooting from the shore. http://www.samys.com/product.php?ItemNo=CANOC218491 PS it weighs about the same as a small kid! -Nick<div></div>
Jerry_
Some Japanese photographers (a couple of years back) were in the area for a large jet-ski event: some had 600mm Nikkors on a monopod. Could not tell if any had teleconverts or not. Generally, you need a very powerful telephoto if you plan on shooting from the shore.
