ian_collins1
1) i) At the moment 50 / 1.4, Gotta love the bokeh and fast aperture, ii) 28 / 1.8 is a great street shooter , iii) 85 / 1.8 great portrait lens if a little long and heavy on a 20D. 2) EOS 5, lovely handling, quiet shutter. The first classic EOS body?

dogbert
Favourite lens - hard to choose between the Sigma 12-24 (can be difficult to compose with but when an image works it works) and Canon 50f2.5 Compact macro (stunning image quality for $200). I use my EOS 300 (in addition to 350xt), mainly because I love to hear the sound of velvia winding through it in the morning.
timw
It's got to be 100mm f/2 prime on my Canon 10D. Beautiful - incredibly sharp and fast.

JeffOwen
At the moment it is the 10-22mm on the 20D. I just love the ability to capture the whole scene. I might change my mind when I test the two new lenses I am about to get. 50mm 1.8 and the 17-85mm.
mtwhite
1) EF 28/2.8. Reasonably wide, reasonably fast, very light, very small, very sharp. My only gripe is the autofocus motor; it sounds like a wasp on a caffeine high. 2) A Yashica Minister III that's twice as old as I am. No batteries needed for the (still accurate) selenium meter, a sharp 45/2.8 lens, and full manual control. It does have a small light leak that I really must fix one of these days. ted_marcus1
My favorite lens has to be the Canon 28-105. I've had for five years, and found it to be a convenient and very sharp lens for travel with an Elan II. I'm continuing to use it with my Rebel XT, supplemented with a Tokina 12-24 to get back the wide-angle coverage the APS-C sensor stole from the 28-105 (and then some-- it's a nice lens despite its quirks). It's much less convenient for digital use, since I have to change lenses more often that I'd like. But there doesn't seem to be a reliable alternative other than Canon's very-overpriced 17-85IS. ky2
Nikkor 105/2.5 AI. Small, cheap, compact, smooth focusing, creamy backgrounds; sharper than my 70-200L's, 85/1,8EF, Nikkor 80-200AFD/AFS. A close second: Nikkor 180/2.8 AIS ED.
jespdj
1. Canon EF 17-40 f/4 L 2. I have a 10D and when a successor to the 20D comes out I'll decide if it's interesting enough to upgrade. I'd like a camera with the speed of the 20D and at least 11 Mpixels.
digitmstr
If I were allowed to have only one zoom it would be the 24-70L. In the primes dpt it would be the 135 f/2L
johnb
Todd,
I have said many times, if I were stuck on an island and only could have one lens it would be my Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro.

I don't like to use any other camera then my DSLR yet :+)
(although I have a few)

Other camera? well one of the favourite is my Sony Ericsson p910 phone camera. horrible quality (makes webcam look like "L" class lens), but it is always in my pocket, but then many will not concider this a camera. mark_chappell
I have a love/hate relationship with my Canon 500/4 IS. Love the wonderfully sharp and contrasty images, even with TCs, love the reach, and the soft defocused backgrounds, love the IS and the amazingly good (not perfect, but really good) autofocus. HATE the weight and bulk, but am more than willing to live with it.

brian robinson
A hard choice between Canon 24/2.8, 50/1.4, 85/1.8 and 200/2.8 - if I had to choose it would probably be the 50/1.
